What in the hell happened to the American dream? Where did it go, that beacon of hope, that grimy but steadfast promise that no matter how corrupt and diseased the system, you could at least count on the occasional moment of clarity, the brief flare of idealism that made you think this grand experiment might still work? Now, all that’s left is a bloated, twisted circus of grotesque clowns – Donald Trump’s cabinet choices – each more absurd and repulsive than the last. The sheer depravity of it all is enough to make a man puke his guts out and wonder if it was ever worth it to be a part of this mess.

We’re not talking about a cabinet of real public servants here, mind you. No, this is a ragtag collection of billionaires, hacks, and madmen – a bunch of grotesque power brokers chosen not because they have any interest in serving the people, but because they have made some kind of depraved deal with the devil. It’s as if Trump, in his infinite wisdom, reached into a dumpster, pulled out whatever scraps of human detritus he could find, and called it a “team.” And you have to wonder – with each new appointment – how much Trump even cares about the country he’s supposed to lead, or if he’s just keeping promises to the lowest common denominator of his base: the racist, the corrupt, the ignorant.

Each one of his cabinet choices is a slap in the face to the ideals this country supposedly stands for. They’re not “public servants” in any sense of the word. They’re parasites, feeding off the corpse of American democracy, keeping the system in place for their own enrichment and amusement. They don’t serve the people. They serve themselves.

But what’s even more disturbing is the casual apathy with which all of this has been accepted. Trump didn’t choose these people because they were qualified or because they cared about the future of America. He chose them because he had to choose “someone”. And these were the people who would scratch his back in return. This was a sick, twisted game from the beginning – and we’re all just the dupes caught in the middle, staring at the carnival of madness with a combination of horror and disbelief.

We’re stuck in this hellhole now, whether we like it or not. But somewhere deep in the belly of this grotesque spectacle, the question lingers: “What the hell happened to the America we were promised?”

It’s not coming back. The dream is gone. And the worst part? These cabinet choices – these sickening, bloated excuses for public service – are the ultimate distraction, keeping the masses too bewildered and disgusted to notice that the very idea of America, of something better, has been shredded into irrelevance.
